The Code of Ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists
The Code of Ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists lists the following ethics guidelines. Keep them in mind when addressing human trafficking.
SEEK TRUTH AND REPORT IT – Journalists must gather, report, and interpret information with honesty, fairness, and courage.
MINIMIZE HARM – Ethical journalists must treat sources, subjects, and colleagues respectfully as fellow human beings.
ACT INDEPENDENTLY – Journalists should have the freedom to prioritize the public's right to information over any other interests.
BE ACCOUNTABLE – Journalists must answer to the people they serve, their audience, and their colleagues.
